2024 Call for Directors
You probably know by now that we at the Heritage Abbotsford Society collect, record, preserve, and share the stories of Abbotsford. Amongst other things, we work extensively with local built heritage (yes, that’s fancy speak for “old buildings and sites”), research local historic topics, and exhibit artifacts from our collections and archives on and off Trethewey House Heritage Site.
As an organization, we plan what we’ll be doing 3+ years in the future. To that end, we have planned fantastic expansions to our programming. We expect these exciting new components to be game changers for our community, and transformational for the Society, especially since we have great new partners to collaborate with, and a very close and supportive relationship with the City of Abbotsford.
To be really effective, though, we need to recruit additional Directors and are looking for talented professionals who can support Heritage Abbotsford Society through governance.
Our Board of Directors meet once per month, 10 to 12 times per year. Note that meetings are held via Zoom – no driving involved! As a Director, you would also be expected to participate in a subcommittee, which is where you have the chance to “get your hands dirty” and support me and my staff with things such as fundraising, strategic planning, and membership recruitment.
If a seat on our Board sounds like something you’re interested in and you think you’d be a good fit for our dynamic team, make sure to reach out to us via email, or simply call the office!
